A moving eye fixed on a near object sees the star race across the sky
Remote objects seem swiftest while the near one seems still
Complementing the previous folio, Leonardo considers an eye that moves while holding its gaze on a nearby object: now the remote objects appear extremely swift, the near one appears motionless, and the star seems to move along the line of the eye. Labelling the eye a and b, the near object c, and the star d, he says that while the eye travels from a to b the star, seen by the non-central lines, appears to sweep across the whole tract of sky d e. A closing note, partly obscured, compares where the object seems to fall when at e versus at h. The diagram is a triangle of sightlines linking eye, near object and star.

Near-fixed gaze makes remote things race, the near one rest
When the eye moves while staying fixed on a nearby object, the remote objects appear extremely swift, the first (nearby) one appears without motion, and the star seems to move along the line of the eye. The near fixated point anchors the scene while the far sky streams.

With the eye's visual power held on object c and the eye moving bodily from a to b, the star d, seen by the non-central lines, appears very swift. In the time the eye goes from a to b the star seems to travel the whole part of the sky between d and e.
Where the object seems to fall: at e versus at h
A closing note, partly obscured, weighs how the object appears when at e against when at h. It reasons that in falling from d it seems it should fall nearer than in falling from a. Further untranscribed jottings in this passage carry small note-markers.
