The upper half of the sheet is filled with triangular figures, a graduated wedge-shape and a row of saw-tooth triangles, tied to a note headed "triangular figures" and another on four triangles set within a square. Triangular figures
Leonardo heads the studies at the top of the page simply "triangular figures." They correspond to the large graduated wedge-shape and the row of saw-tooth triangles ruled across the upper sheet.
Four triangles within a square
A second note describes four triangles superimposed within a square. It matches the square drawn at lower left with lines running from one corner to divide it into triangular fields.
Pyramids weighing on their bases in a water-filled vessel
A caption describes a vessel full of water in which various pyramids exert various weights upon their bases, together with a kind of box having various openings. The accompanying drawing shows a compartmented, box-like container.
A wedge driven into a composite block
Noted as drawn upside down, this study shows a wedge forced into a composite block that is said to be surrounded by iron plates. It treats the splitting action of a wedge reinforced against bursting.
