Red chalk study of the outward form of arms and a hand
A red chalk sheet studying the outward form of the human arm, dominated by two overlapping forearms that run diagonally down the page. The nearer arm ends in a foreshortened hand, its fingers spread and turned toward the viewer, worked up with careful modelling of the wrist and knuckles; the second arm is drawn more lightly behind it. The study is concerned with surface anatomy, muscle and tendon rather than internal structure. An inventory number appears at upper right and a small inscription and collector's stamp at lower right.

Overlapping forearms with a foreshortened hand
Two forearms are drawn one over the other, sweeping from upper right to lower left. The foremost terminates in an open hand seen from the back, the spread fingers foreshortened and modelled in red chalk with attention to the tendons of the wrist and the rounded forms of the knuckles.
