The sheet studies how to make and use strong timber beams. A long arched beam built up from notched, pegged segments is drawn both assembled and unfolded flat, with a note on how to bend, notch and clamp it; a small cube shows an interlocking mortise joint. Composite curved beam
A long arched beam is built up from notched segments pegged together, shown both assembled as an arc and laid out flat as a strip. The note explains it should be bent first, then notched so the cuts align true to the plumb line, and joined before it is released from the clamp.
Interlocking notched block
A small cube is drawn with an interlocking mortise cut and labelled 'like this', demonstrating how the joint is meant to fit together.
Vertical beam for support
A straight upright beam is annotated as serving 'to support', identifying its role as a member carrying compression.
