Mechanical devices, a perspective study and a small reckoning
Sketches of a geared apparatus and a sectioned tool, with red-chalk vanishing lines and a note of goods
This irregularly cut sheet carries several pen sketches of mechanical devices, among them an apparatus with a large wheel and a triangular stand at lower left and a beam-mounted mechanism at the top. A small sectional drawing is annotated with a note on the thickness of the cacciafrusto, and a broad elongated form spans the upper right. In red chalk, a fan of lines converges toward a point in a perspective construction, and a short reckoning of paper, cloth and scudi is written across the inverted sheet. Further notes in Leonardo's hand run across the sheet beyond the few passages transcribed here.

Note on the thickness of the cacciafrusto
A small drawing shown in section is labelled with the beginning of a note on the thickness of the cacciafrusto, breaking off before the sentence is completed. It accompanies the mechanical sketches on the sheet.
Geared apparatus on a triangular stand
At lower left a mechanism is drawn with a large disc or wheel and a triangular supporting frame, together with a beam-mounted device above. The upper drawing carries the figure 10.
Red-chalk perspective construction
In red chalk a fan of straight lines converges toward a single point at the right, laying out a vanishing-point construction. It sits beneath the pen drawings in the lower centre of the sheet.
Reckoning of paper, cloth and scudi
Turning the sheet over, a short reckoning lists figures against paper, cloth and scudi: 18 in paper, 36 in cloth, 19 scudi, totalling 73. It is written independently of the drawings.
