Balance with suspended weights and mechanical sketches
A balance diagram and a row of hanging squares among frame and wheel studies
The leaf is crowded with mechanical pen sketches: rectangular frames and stands, a lettered balance at centre right, a row of squares hung in a line at the foot of the page, and a large red-chalk wheel with a note about its power. The two transcribed captions label the balance (c b a - r p o) and the suspended squares. Much further writing on the sheet was not transcribed and is present in mirror script around the drawings.

Diagram of a balance
A balance is drawn at centre right, its parts lettered c b a on one side and r p o on the other, set up to compare weights in equilibrium.
Row of suspended squares
Along the lower edge a line of squares is shown hanging, the caption beginning 'Every square ...', so that equal weights can be compared as they hang.
Red-chalk wheel
A large circle drawn in red chalk on the right stands for a wheel or geared device, annotated among the surrounding studies of frames and mechanisms.
