Sheet of mechanisms, springs, flutes and a treadwheel
Springs, gears and screws with two continuous-tone flutes, a water bellows and an optical note
This crowded double sheet mixes many small mechanical studies: a spring that trips beneath a screw, toothed wheels and pinions, a sectioned pinion engaged by a screw, and wheels with elements set on their rim marked as going out and coming in. Two flutes are described as sliding continuously in pitch like the human voice, and a large man-powered wheel is said to act as a balance and move very easily. Scattered notes add a water bellows, an air-channel that passes as much as it receives, and the opening of an observation about a black object seen against a white field.

Continuous-tone flutes played like the voice
Two flutes marked b and a are described as not changing their notes by leaps but in the proper manner of the human voice, achieved by moving the hand up and down as with the bent trumpet, especially in the whistle a; they can sound eighths and sixteenths of a note, as many as one pleases.
Man-powered wheel acting as a balance
The large wheel mounted by a man is noted as being almost of the nature of a wheel, so that it becomes a balance and is very easy in its motion.
Springs, screws and rimmed wheels
A circular figure carries a spring that trips and should intersect beneath the screw, while a sectioned pinion is engaged by a screw with its male thread. Wheels bear elements applied to the circumference labelled goes out - comes in, comes in - goes out.
A black object on a white field
In the upper left half an observation begins, whoever looks at the black thing in the white field, but the transcribed note breaks off before its conclusion; further untranscribed text may continue this remark on the sheet.
Air passing through a uniform channel
Beside a bellows fitted into a horn, Leonardo notes that if air runs through a uniform channel and a little is introduced at one end, just as much comes out at the other; a nearby figure of a bellows is labelled a water bellows.
