Several sketches study how a weight's pull varies as it travels through a quarter of a circle. In the upper figure weights numbered 2, 4, 6, 8 are stepped along an arc, with lines converging to a corner; below, two diagrams show a rod turned from horizontal to vertical, marked with the values 1, 3, 2, 4. A small circle set on a quadrant accompanies them. Together they continue the analysis of weight along curved and inclined paths.

Weight stepped along a quarter circle
An arc carries a series of circles (weights) stepped along a quarter of the circumference, numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, with radiating lines drawn to a common point. The figures track how the effective weight changes as the load swings through the quadrant.
Rod raised from horizontal to vertical
Two further diagrams show a rod being brought from a horizontal to a vertical position, with the values 1, 3, 2, 4 marking stages of the motion. They extend the quarter-circle study to a rotating beam.
