The left half of the page is a word-study: a long alphabetical column of Italian verbs beginning in 'abb-' (abbracciare, abbruciare, abbondare and so on), with a few more entries carried to the upper right. At right a labelled diagram headed 'Denti di rote' (Teeth of wheels) shows one tooth driving another. The accompanying note treats the power of gear teeth and its loss: as the driven tooth o S rises from S to c, the driving tooth is lifted from m to a, and the effective lever of the contact keeps changing, touching now in one place and now in another.
