Centralised basilica and Santa Maria in Pertica plans; beam-drop wall defence and a winch
The upper half of the sheet carries two centralised church plans: a scalloped basilica ringed with 'theatres', including theatres for hearing mass around a choir, and another after Santa Maria in Pertica at Pavia. A quadrangular fortress with an outer 'garland' rampart is drawn in perspective across the middle. Below, a wall-defence scheme hauls beams above the battlements to drop them onto scaling ladders and their climbers, with a winch (argano) noted separately.

Beam-drop defence against scaling ladders
When the walls are assaulted by scaling, beams are hauled up above the battlements and then pushed off to fall on the ladders and the men climbing them. The quick way of raising said beams is to be used as here drawn.
