Wheel machine in water, with a note on tides
A partly-submerged bucket wheel, its pool measures, and where no tide runs
This leaf, drawn in red chalk, sets a bucketed wheel partly immersed in water together with its mechanisms. The notes give the draught as one and a third braccia and the pool as four braccia wide and eight long, with the buckets one ounce long and one and a half high; a second wheel and gearing carry the figures sixty and forty. An inverted line at the foot observes that there will be no ebb and flow where several rivers do not pour into one and the same sea.
