How winds collide, rebound, and grow dense

The left folio, headed 'Of the wind,' studies how one wind's course is transmuted into another's when their currents collide and cannot pass through one another, with the angle of rebound set by the excess of the stronger wind. A further passage distinguishes simple and mixed winds and shows how a wind striking within itself grows denser, likened to two waters that strike together, citing Leonardo's 'mechanical elements.' Winds change course when their currents collide
One wind's course is often turned into another's by the percussions where their currents meet; unable to pass through each other, they are forced by necessity to rebound to opposite sides.
The rebound angle grows with the stronger wind
When two winds are unequal, their reflex motions do not simply reverse; the angle of percussion of the stronger exceeds that of the weaker by as much as its power exceeds the other's, since two moving bodies cannot occupy one another's place.
Simple and mixed winds, and their densening
A narrow wind striking a broad one rebounds at equal angles but never back on its own origin; driven into the rest of the broad wind's breadth, it is curved back into the first course. Such self-collisions breed successive reflex motions and make the wind denser, the first density being the greatest.
Compared to two waters striking together
Leonardo likens the winds' densening to two waters that strike each other, citing the 4th proposition of the seventh book of his 'mechanical elements': at the point of first percussion an angle forms that throws the first-struck water higher than any other part of it.
